I LOVED reading all the comments for the last blog post. What I’m hearing is that we have some absolute beginners at Art Journaling, and we have some very experienced artists as well. We have very organized and very chaotic. But the biggest thread running through the comments is that you do what you want, what you feel, and that is EXACTLY what art journaling is all about! There are no rules. Tell your inner critic to shut up. And just do it. And everyone, no matter their experience level, has the potential to learn something new.
I find that starting is the hardest part. But if you just lay some color down, whether it be smooshing water color paint around, or spritzing with color sprays, or swiping a few ink pads across the page, it always helps to eliminate the white blank page first. And if you still don’t know what to do, there are tons of sites out there where you can get journal prompt ideas that can help you jump start a page. Or forget about words and writing altogether and just swish paint around, make marks, loops, circles, doodles… then turn the page. No rules, remember?
I bet you want to know who won the book, right? Well, the random number generator picked…
#29 Suzanne Johnson!
She has a journal called a “mixed media mess” but I’m betting we ALL have a few of those laying around. My first journals were “testers” where I would test any new supplies I bought, stamps, paints, markers, etc. It’s actually a very practical way to remind you what you have. So just keep at it Suzanne, make all the mess you want!
I have to tell you that while I love giving stuff away, I also hate it. Why? Because for every thrilled winner, there are so many who I’m letting down. I hate disappointing people! I want you to know how much I appreciate everyone who takes the time to leave a comment. I really love the interaction I see happening. And I enjoy reading your stories and getting to know you a little better. Thank you for playing along. I wish I had a bazillion books to give to everyone, but alas, nope. I am going to continue with more giveaways the next few weeks though. I have some fun stuff I have my eye on that I think I need to share
Go create something!
