This past weekend, we had the pleasure of visiting with dear friends who recently moved into a new home. So excited for them and was really looking forward to the get together and unveiling of their new abode! We came. We saw. We drank. We marveled. We toured the inside. We ooooohed. We toured the outside. We awwwwed. We looked up. We looked down. We chatted over hors d’oeuvres. We drank. We BBQ’d. We ate. We ate. We drank and waited for the bobcat to visit. Sadly, he did not…however a bunny DID. This is a BIG deal to Floridians who live east. We drank.
Well, throughout this event, yours truly was paying close attention to details….there was a housewarming gift to think about…something special…something you can’t pick up at Home Goods (which I happen to have a love affair with, or did, until I met Jerry and Dick and Michael) and something that is OOAK (one of a kind – I just love that acronym) and something that is made from the heart by yours truly…hence…
STENCILS + FABRIC…it could work! It would fit the criteria! It would be FUN! And….since my pal and I have the same taste, some of the same furniture, some of the same yada yada…as a matter of fact, yours truly inspired their kitchen table n chairs color cushion/pillow scheme (did I mention we have the same tables n chairs?)
Heigh HO!!! Off to work I go:
Choose Fabric plus stencil motif.
Prewashed fabric. Used a combo of the “Coral Series” and the “Water Series” stencils.
I alternated the stencils mentioned above. I used “NEOPAQUE” fabric paint in turquoise, blue, with mixes of each in white. I used “Silver Scrubbers” SS-154 Round Flat brushes – THE BEST I’VE EVER USED FOR FABRIC APPLICATION! I haven’t tried them on canvas or wood, but I will be.
Looking good…time to add borders…as in S E W….(YaY)

Sing along….Our House…is a verrrry verrrry very fine house….(yes, those “very’s” with extra “r’s” are intentional as in chaRm)..free form letters!
Add embellishments like strands of beads n puka shells. Add a finish for the back with leftover fabric and “heat n bond”, doodle more dimension on those free form letters…and look/listen to another you tube version featuring CSN of “Our House”…
Stage gift on your same table…..See…inspect…drink…primp….marvel…oooooh…awwww…look up…look down…wait for a bobcat visit…and
