I don’t know about you, but I have a serious love affair with markers. I’ve collected them since I was in my early twenties and “colored” conceptual landscape drawings for a living. We used those big smelly xylene filled cancer sticks and laughed about “getting high” off of them. Stupid, I know, and I don’t touch those solvent based markers anymore. But there are SO many other markers to play with, I don’t miss them a bit. I seriously love alcohol based markers… I think they are my favorite. Copics. Spectrum Noir, Zig Kurecolor, LePlume… and then there are paint markers I’ve recently discovered. Montana, Sharpie Poster Paints, Zig, Marvy… and of course we can’t forget the water based markers – Ranger Distress Markers, Marvy LePlume, Tombow. And last (but not really) good old Faber Castell Pitt Pens, in all those wonderful chunky brush tipped colors. Yum. Here is my new marker storage area: I bought the wood shelf at a flea market in the country for $10.00 (“laaaaa” angels singing) It sits at the end of my table, against the wall and has room on top for “stuff” too. The bins are Sistema, from any major big box store and have a great latching system. They are actually food storage containers and BPA free (bonus!) I can see all the markers at a glance (ok, there’s a washi tape bin, who put that there?) and pull them out and most importantly, PUT THEM AWAY easily. The top right shelf holds my tins of stuff – inktense blocks and pencils, oil pastels, Neocolor II’s, water soluble pencils, etc. (Eye Spy a bin of Faber Castell gelatos, do you?)
So what I want to know is… how do YOU store your markers and pencils and mark-makers? And do you think I’m a marker hoarder? Anyone else confessing to that? Leave a comment and I will pick someone to win this:
Because I KNOW you probably NEED more markers, right? These are alcohol based markers, dual tipped (fine point and chunky chisel) and still in the package. The two sets include TURQUOISE set and PALE HUES set. Tell me what you would do with them. I will leave comments open until Wednesday night when I will randomly pick a winner. And listen up, this is important. If your name is not clickable to a blog account or google account, LEAVE YOUR CONTACT INFO in your comment. Otherwise I can’t reach you and that would be very sad. Don’t make me sad, okay?
