I try not to go on Pinterest too much because one minute on Pinterest equals about 30 minutes of real time. It’s weird how that happens. Like falling down the rabbit hole. But before I moved, I started looking at pins for studio organization and I wanted to share a few of my favorites. Here’s where the idea came from for my two tables – one a sewing table where the sewing machine and serger can both have permanent homes. The other a mixed media table which my daughter and I will share. (We’ll see how THAT goes, hehe.)
This is Erica Hettwer’s studio. See her blog post HERE. I have the same Expedit shelves holding up a conference table top, all from IKEA. It was difficult finding a wide enough top for the shelves, but I didn’t have the means to cut down a piece of plywood or make my own top. I just like the clean lines and it appeals to my sense of order. At least until the shelves are filled, hehe.
Another idea I love is Pegboard.
Credit for this goes to “Organize and Inspire” read the original blog post HERE. My pegboard never looked this neat, but it held a lot of stuff. Namely, tin lunchboxes I collected from various places, filled with doodads and little stuffs. It also held a thread rack and hooks for my quilting rulers and a bunch of other stuff. It’s amazing how much it held, but the more it holds, the more cluttered it looks too. I’m debating on whether to rehang it in the new studio.
This is what I want my closet to look like:
I don’t think there is an inch of wasted space in there! Credit for this drool-worthy closet goes to PinkSuedeShoe . Shelves. This is why I need shelves. I hate wasted space. Good thing I bought a stud-finder… it looks like the shelves need a lot of support.
And last, I LOVE my little IKEA filing cabinets. I bought mine a few years ago. They look so small, but it’s amazing how much they hold. Each one held about a Banker Box FULL of stuff. The pin below is credited to Jenny Grotherus of Kotten’s Corner. Again, this studio is a little too neat to be mistaken for mine
Well, I hope you enjoyed my little pin-sharing and I’ve inspired you to go to Pinterest and take a look around. If you haven’t emerged in three hours, we’ll send in the troops!
Remember, you’ve got until Midnight Friday night to leave a comment on yesterday’s post to win Chris Cozen and Julie Prichard’s new book. Some of you have been naughty and aren’t leaving your contact information. I can click on some names and get your info but others – not so much. I have no way to reach you if you win. So go right now and “reply” to your own post with your info. If you’d like just put “at” instead of @ so it doesn’t go all spammy on me. (I have to go through 100+ spam messages a day!)
Have a great weekend!
